Description and Itinerary

Your adventure begins early in the morning with a convenient pick-up from your hotel or a designated meeting point in Tirana at approximately 06:00 AM.

After meeting your guide and fellow travelers, you will leave the city behind and begin your journey toward northern Albania, home to some of the country’s most spectacular natural landscapes. As you travel through the countryside, the scenery gradually changes from urban surroundings to rolling hills, mountain valleys, traditional villages, and breathtaking alpine views.

After approximately two hours of driving, the group will make a short stop at a local café and rest area. Here, you will have time to enjoy a coffee, purchase snacks, use the restrooms, and stretch your legs before continuing the journey. Since the tour starts early, many guests choose to relax or take a nap during the first part of the drive.

The journey then continues toward Lake Koman through the dramatic mountain landscapes of northern Albania. During this part of the trip, your guide will share interesting information about Albanian history, culture, local traditions, and the natural wonders of the region. Along the way, you will enjoy spectacular views of mountains, rivers, forests, and remote villages. Please note that some sections of the road are currently under construction and may be slightly bumpy.

After approximately four hours of total travel time, you will arrive at the Komani Lake Dam. From here, your guide will lead the group through a short pedestrian tunnel, approximately 7 minutes long, connecting the parking area to the boat terminal.

Once at the terminal, you will board the boat and begin one of the most scenic cruises in Europe. The boat journey across Lake Koman lasts approximately one hour and offers unforgettable views of towering cliffs, narrow canyons, lush green mountainsides, and crystal-clear waters. Often compared to the Norwegian fjords, Lake Koman is considered one of Albania’s most spectacular natural attractions.

During the cruise, the boat will make a brief stop at the famous Komani Lake Cave. This hidden natural formation is carved into the rock and provides an excellent opportunity for photographs and sightseeing.

After leaving the cave, the cruise continues deeper into the heart of the Albanian Alps until reaching the stunning Shala River, often referred to as the “Thailand of Albania” due to its incredibly clear turquoise waters and untouched natural beauty.

Upon arrival at Shala River, you will have approximately four hours of free time to enjoy the area at your own pace.

During your stay, you can:

• Relax on the white pebble beaches surrounded by mountains
• Rent a kayak, canoe, or pedal boat and explore the river from the water
• Enjoy lunch, refreshments, or local dishes at one of the riverside restaurants

In the afternoon, after plenty of time to relax and enjoy this natural paradise, around 14:30, you will board the boat once again for the return cruise across Lake Koman. This is another perfect opportunity to admire the scenery from a different perspective and capture more memorable photographs.

Upon returning to the Komani Lake terminal, you will meet your driver and begin the journey back to Tirana around 16:00. A short comfort stop will be made along the way for restrooms and refreshments.

After a day filled with unforgettable landscapes, crystal-clear waters, and unique experiences, you will arrive back in Tirana at approximately 19:00 PM, where your guide will drop you off at your hotel or designated drop-off location.

The official departure time from Tirana is 06:00 AM. However, pick-up service begins between 05:30 AM and 06:00 AM, depending on your selected pick-up location.
